Why We Recommend Using the HELB App
Previously, all subsequent loan applications were done online through the HELB portal. However, in early 2021, HELB partnered with Safaricom to develop an app that easily allows students to manage their finances.
The app is meant to aid HELB to promote responsible spending with the funds locked for specific allocations, such as tuition or library fees only accessible to the specific Paybill account of the recipient’s University or TVET institution. The student’s upkeep allowance can now also be transferred into the student’s M-PESA wallet for everyday use.
Using the HELB Mobile Application is a more convenient and efficient way of applying for subsequent HELB loans, especially for Safaricom subscribers. The app is readily available for download from Google Play Store, and the registration process is straightforward, allowing you to generate a PIN and accept the license agreement quickly.
Furthermore, the app offers mandatory financial literacy notes and a brief Question & Answer session that helps you appreciate the purpose of HELB, making it easier to understand the loan application process.
The loan application form is easily accessible via the app, and once submitted, you can receive a pop-up message confirming successful submission and the loan serial number. The process is entirely paperless, saving time and effort in printing and submitting forms. Overall, using the HELB App offers a more user-friendly and streamlined experience for subsequent loan applications.
